Working at Heights — Ontario Requirements
Construction workers who use specified fall-protection systems must complete approved Working at Heights training first.
WHO NEEDS IT
Workers on construction projects in Ontario who may use specified methods of fall protection (such as travel restraint, fall restricting, fall arrest, safety nets or work belts) must complete approved Working at Heights training before using that protection.
APPROVED TRAINING
Training must be:
• approved by Ontario's Chief Prevention Officer, and
• delivered by an approved training provider.
HOW LONG IT LASTS
Training is generally valid for three years after successful completion. A refresher course is required to keep training valid.
EMPLOYER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Confirm workers have valid training before they work at heights.
• Provide equipment- and site-specific instruction.
• Keep training records.
