ENGINEERED • SOLID HARDWOOD can be sanded and refinished many times; best above grade. • ENGINEERED HARDWOOD has a real-wood top layer over a stable core; handles humidity changes better and can be used in more locations. WIDTH AND FINISH Wide planks give a modern look; narrower strips suit traditional homes. Matte and satin finishes hide scratches better than gloss. SPECIES Oak is durable and widely available; maple is harder but shows stains differently; walnut is softer but rich in colour. INSTALLATION Wood needs time to acclimatise to the home. Ask your installer about subfloor preparation and moisture testing.
